A little about me....
Education
I have a master's degree in Spanish and a master's degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)/Spanish from the University of Northern Iowa. While all of my classes for the TESOL/Spanish degree were taken on campus in Cedar Falls, IA, all of the classes for my MA in Spanish were taken at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela in Santiago de Compostela, Spain via a partnership between the two campuses. I also have a bachelor's degree in Business & Entrepreneurship from Buena Vista University. As you can tell, I love learning!!!
I began my career in education at Anson Middle School in Marshalltown, IA where I worked as a Native Language Specialist. I would interpret and translate for new immigrants and re-teach a teacher's lesson in Spanish. I was at Anson Middle School for 6 years and loved it! After completing my first master's degree, I obtained a Spanish teaching job in Allen, TX, a suburb north of Dallas. They are known for their HUGE marching band and amazing football team (and stadium!). I spent 8 amazing years there before deciding to move back north. I was at Zionsville West Middle School for one year before joining the amazing team at Carmel Middle School! I was in Carmel Middle school for the 2015-2016 school year and traveled between Carmel Middle School and Creekside Middle School for the 2016-2017 school year. Beginning in the 2017-2018 school year, I will be at Carmel High School.
Personal
While studying in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, I met my husband who was also a student at the university. We have been married since 2007 and have two daughters (plus my son from a previous marriage who is currently in the US Navy). We are fortunate enough to be able to return to Vigo, Spain nearly every summer to visit his family.
